Finzi Dies Natalis
This concert brings together oboe sonatas from three Composers of Barnes: Herbert Howells, Stephen Dodgson and Jim Parker. The most recent by Jim Parker is the world première of a work written especially for the Festival. These are offset against Finzi’s Dies Natalis, a setting of texts by the 17th century poet Thomas Traherne, which reflect the joy and wonder of a newborn child’s innocent perspective on the world.
